New cars are sometimes referred to as computers with wheels. Their technology is – take your pick – awesome, breathtaking, unbelievable. And the best-of-the-best are made by Mercedes-Benz.
Specifically, the Mercedes-Benz 2023 S-Class and 2023 EQS Sedan were just honored by HotCars.com as #1 and #2 on its list of the “10 Luxury Cars with the Best Technology.” These vehicles offer cutting-edge safety, information, and entertainment served with matchless luxury.
At the center of the S-Class is the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX), a multimedia system Mercedes describes as “intuitive and intelligent, and grows even smarter over time.” S-Class vehicles can have up to five screens, including a main 12.8-inch center touchscreen and 12.3-inch digital gauge. An available rear-seat entertainment system offers two 11.6-inch screens.
Navigation comes with augmented video control, wireless charging – front and back – and smartphone integration. MBUX facilitates setting the interior mood, lighting, and driving mode. And it’s all controllable through voice, touch, or gesture. This video shows how it works. This video shows advanced features.
Safety technology abounds in the 2023 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, including standard forward-collision warning, automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and distance pacing with traffic stop-and-go. Additionally, there’s Active Parking Assist and Active Blind Spot Assist, an aerial view camera system and cameras on both sides, plus front and rear, Driver Monitoring Alert, and Evasion Assist.
The EQS is in a class by itself simply because it is electrified and all-wheel drive. With an advanced electric motor that provides a driving range of up to 350 miles, it packs 329 horsepower, 406 lb-ft of torque, and the ability to do zero-60 mph in 5.9 seconds – and that’s just the base model EQS 450+.
The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS Sedan has the same MBUX system as other S-Class vehicles. Three screens providing information and entertainment comprise the 56-inch glass Hyperscreen . According to Mercedes-Benz, “Added to this is artificial intelligence (AI): with software capable of learning, the display and operating concept adapts completely to its user and makes personalized suggestions for numerous infotainment, comfort, and vehicle functions.”
The EQS also has 350 sensors that provide comprehensive information about surroundings and provide driver assistance and safety.
You can see how automotive technology has evolved to the highest level yet – the 2023 S-Class and EQS Sedan – at Mercedes-Benz of Farmington.
