Mercedes-Benz Engineers Its Way to a Child Safety Seat Award from Cars.com

New vehicle shoppers are getting a two-fer when they consider the Mercedes-Benz EQ EQS45+ Sedan. Not only are these vehicles – a sedan and SUV – all-electric, but they’ve been given the Cars.com 2025 “Best Cars for Car Seats” award. Add in unparalleled luxury, superior German technology and handling, and they are true winners, indeed. Mercedes-Benz of Farmington is delighted to share this news.

What They Said

Cars.com’s certified child seat technician, Jennifer Geiger wrote that, “The Mercedes-EQ EQS family comprises a sedan-like hatchback and SUV; the models are the German luxury automaker’s flagship electric vehicles. For this Car Seat Check, we tested the 2025 EQS450+ Sedan with seats for five; a two-seat third row is optional in the SUV. The sedan earned straight As in our test thanks to ample backseat legroom and easy-access anchors.”

The vehicles’ LATCH system was a primary focus of the evaluation, part of a year-long data collection on 55 different cars from manufacturers. LATCH is an acronym for Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children. Additionally, they checked out how each kind of car seat worked in the Mercedes-Benz EQ EQS class:

  • Infant Seat: Grade A – “... very easy to install via the lower anchors. There was also ample legroom in front of the seat for our 5-foot-7-inch front passenger.”
  • Rear-Facing Convertible: Grade A – “... went in easily and did not impact front passenger legroom.”
  • Forward-Facing Convertible: Grade A – “... installed easily and fit well. The outboard head restraints power up or down to make room for the car seat so it fits flush against the seatback.”
  • Booster: Grade A – “ ... adjusted the rear seatback into an upright position and raised the head restraint to situate the booster flush against the seatback. The seat belt buckles are on stable bases, which should make them easy for kids to grasp and use independently.”

Here’s more information about how the seat checks are conducted

Utah Protects Kids with Stringent Regulations

Most states have similar laws regarding child safety seats and who must observe them. Utah is no exception:

  • Under 1 year – must be in rear-facing car seat.
  • 1-2 years – should remain in rear-facing car seat until at least 2 or 30 lbs.
  • 2-8 years – must use forward-facing car seat until outgrown and then transition to booster seat.
  • Under 8 years – must be in car or booster seat if less than 57” tall.
  • All children should ride only in back seat.

We know that purchasing a Mercedes-Benz is a big investment for your family, which is why we’re so thrilled that we can add child car seat safety to the list of already-great features in the Mercedes-Benz EQ EQS class. A Mercedes-Benz of Farmington client advisor can show you the options. We’re also pleased that the 2025 Mercedes-Benz E-Class as a whole finished just out of  the top 10 as a “Top Finisher”
